What to Expect from a Birthing Center
We provide a midwifery model of care and offer a range of services that includes: preconception counseling, comprehensive prenatal care, labor and delivery, breastfeeding consultations, postpartum support, and well-women visits. The midwifery model of care is based on the fact that pregnancy and birth are normal life events. Our care is family centered with a focus on developing a relationship of trust which fosters shared decision making and informed choice and helps our clients feel confident and well supported during labor and the birth of their child.
While some birthing centers may be close to or attached to a hospital, our birthing center is "freestanding," which means that we are independent from the hospital and owned by Certified Nurse Midwives. Therefore, we are able to offer a home like birthing environment. We focus on alternative and natural ways to ease the intensity of childbirth. Breathing techniques, massage, acupressure, continuous labor support, and hydrotherapy are all methods we use. Our birthing center can be a wonderful option for low-risk, healthy women who wish to have a comfortable, peaceful and positive labor and delivery experience. If you have been told you have a high risk pregnancy, please feel free to contact us to determine if we can accommodate your pregnancy and needs in labor. Occasionally women will need further monitoring during their prenatal care, but would still be considered low risk for birth. We are well integrated into the community and we collaborate closely with Maternal Fetal Medicine physician Dr. Fausett as needed. We do have privileges at the hospital, and often accommodate our clients at Community Medical Center as well.
At our birthing center, you will always have a private room. You’ll find a home-like quality to our accommodations which includes comfortable furniture, a queen sized bed, soft lighting, and everything you need to make the birthing space your own.
If you have any concerns at all, please let us know, we will get you in as soon as possible for a confirmatory ultrasound, lab work, or midwifery consult to help put your mind at ease. We can help demystify pregnancy related concerns and determine if out-of-hospital birth is a good choice for you.
